CIRTEC has a full in-house metallography lab for preparing surfaces for analysis by grinding, polishing, and etching to reveal micro-structural constituents. After preparation, the samples are analyzed using optical or electron microscopy. Our highly trained technicians are able to identify alloys and predict material properties, as well as processing conditions

CIRTEC also understands the numerous factors that must be considered in order to select the most effective materials for use in medical devices. Selection factors such as impact, tensile, and mechanical strengths, biocompatibility, weight, dielectric properties typically need to be weighed against competing concerns. These include the effects of various sterilization methods (gamma, e-beam, ETO, autoclave, etc.) upon the mechanical strength properties of vaious plastics. Our engineers understand these issues and are experts at identifying effective metal alloys and plastic polymer materials for specific applications.
